The scriptures teach us that in Heaven we “will know as we are known.” We will know God, and each other, as well as God knows us now. Our lives and hearts will be completely open for all. Something tells me there won’t be much to talk about. Silence could well be the language of Heaven. St. John of the Cross said, “The Father spoke one Word, which was His Son, and this Word He always speaks in eternal silence, and in silence must It be heard by the soul.”
The thing that each of us needs the most, whether we realize it or not, is silence. We have to learn how to become silent and how to remain there. Once you enter into silence and enter into that unpredictable and incomparable experience, you will find that you can only be person you were meant to be if you allow that silence to grow in your heart and spill over into your life. Don’t be afraid, I assure you that silence is the eternal silence of God. This is the silence that each of us is invited to find in our own hearts.
Once you experience it, you will realize that silence is the perfect medium for communication. It is in silence that we communicate, in-depth, real intimacy with truth and wholeness. In silence God communicates Himself to your soul.
